It is estimated that neotame is between 7,000 to 13,000 times sweeter than sugar, which would allow food manufacturers to use less in their products. And since the FDA does not require labels to include ingredients that contribute less than one percent of the product, in some instances neotame can be used in foods without having to be listed on the label. Neotame is also hidden under the infamous “natural flavors” category on some packaged foods.

So what can YOU do to make sure you don’t get scammed by a food company trying to sell you red #40 and Blue #2 as if they were real blueberries? Read the ingredients. If you see artificial colors on the list — and they’re usually found at the very bottom of the ingredients list — just don’t buy that product.

The vast majority of soy at your local market is not a health food. The exception is fermented soy, which I’ll explain more about later and even worse GMO soy that is contaminated with large pesticide residues as the reason it is GMO is so they can spray the potent toxic herbicide Roundup on them to improve crop production by killing the weeds.
